Perfect BBQ Marinade?

Bored one Saturday morning, I decided to be adventurous.  How about we make this afternoon's BBQ steak a little different and marinate it!  So what's in the cupboard....

Take a suitable dish not too deep.... add some freshly ground salt and black pepper corns... and... oh yes... a whole garlic.... crushed... save one clove for very thin slicing... add some hot chilli flakes... then... an egg cup of olive oil, a dash of lemon juice, a chopped onion and stir with a wooden spoon....

Now what else? A very small glass of wine, from last night's bottle.. red or white? who cares... NO... not for you - add it to your mix.... and throw in some soy sauce....

Don't forget to add that thinly sliced garlic clove... give it all another stir and all that's left is to add the steak... make sure both sides are well coated.... cover the dish and pop the lot in the fridge until you are ready to cook!

The downside?  The requests to repeat it for every steak BBQ!!  AHHHHH.....

Don't be scared to try your own variation...just go for it... what's the worst that can happen?

Expecting Joe Bloggs?

Ever had one of those moments?  Your ears just don't work!  I remember once and an open plan office.. too many years ago to mention .. Reception rang in and Betty answered the phone...

Joe Bloggs is waiting in Reception....

     B: Anybody expecting Joe Bloggs?

Are you sure his name is Joe Bloggs?
     B: Yes... Joe Bloggs....

Back to Reception... sorry no - we are not expecting Joe...

Joe?  No - not Joe...  Chubb Locks!!!!

B: Oh yes - send him up, we've been expecting him...

OK... not my best, it was funny at the time though... maybe you had to be there...

Feb 2011 - Reflections on My New Job!

Life is not boring.... that's for sure...

As I complete my first 2 years in a new job I can reflect that it has been quite an experience.... After many year's as a Manager in the IT business, week 1 set the scene.  My first Friday night was a late one, due to a computer virus of all things [of course I added value... I ordered the pizza].  In two years I have lived through cyber war, data centre migrations, office relocation's and now flood.... Need I go on?

My resume is going to need a lot of work if I ever do get bored...
